Scored to the sounds of turbo folk, and seen through the eyes of a local taxi driver, Fake Porno is a scheming striptease of the back streets of Belgrade; a city scarred by sex, war and petty crime.

From the ashes of the recent Balkan conflict, a society of sleaze has sprung up in Serbia. Larger than life everyday characters, seen through the eyes of a highly opinionated public servant emerge from the underbelly of a nation searching for intimacy.

With Fake Porno we reconstructed the Turbine rehearsal room at the Brisbane Powerhouse and the white room at Lupa Art in Melbourne into a seedy Serbian bar. It all came intact with video screens, mirrors, pole dancing and a collection of talkative vagabonds with stories of adventures and mishaps in Belgrade’s night life.
